I don't just read a book; I "crawl" right into one.
I read, I devour, and I consume every last word until the story is running like a movie through my brain!

Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill

Chloe Neill has “knocked it out of the park” with this debut! Page after page, readers will be kept entertained and on their toes; just itching to find out what is going to happen next!

Reviewers Introductory Synopsis
Merit is your basic “cheeky”, yet some-what introverted, scholar. An accomplished graduate student, working as a Teachers Assistant, and a few chapters into her dissertation, life was good. Merit was happy and more than ready for the “ho hum” everyday life that is sure to follow graduation. Well, that was the plan anyway.  Attacked by a nasty vampire, on campus at the University of Chicago, Merit thought her life was over. She couldn’t have been more wrong!

Master Vampire, Ethan Sullivan (of Cadogan House), happened to interrupt the attack and in an effort to save her life, Ethan “Turned” Merit. Even though the act of “Turning” a human must be a choice freely made, Ethan felt he had no other options. It was either create a vamp or let her die. He simply could not let an innocent victim suffer.

Unceremoniously “dumped” back home, Merit finds herself scared and confused at this sudden and complete redirection of her life. She’s been made a vampire, removed from her enrollment with the university, and initially left with little to no guidance of what to do next.

As it happens, Merit seems to have latent ability and quickly becomes surprisingly handy with the Katana. So much so, that Ethan Sullivan, Cadogan House Master, assigns her the position of House Sentinel; a move that shocks every house member to the core and sends waves of speculation through their tightly knit vampiric community.

Reviewer Thoughts
Chloe Neill has created an amazing female heroine! With determination, intelligence and even a little sass, Merit’s growth as a new vampire is developed in such a way that readers are able to identify with her trials. We are lead to share her fears, feel her frustrations, and even tense with the notion of her anger.  Merit’s got moxie* and she's determined to do whatever it takes survive without loosing her “self” in the process.

"Merit’s got lots o’ moxie" and
I’d love to raise my glass to her at the Temple Bar!

From the Publisher
First in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student’s introduction into a society of vampires.

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was Merit’s. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker—and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.

Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she’s traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan “Lord o’ the Manor” Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude— and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan’s attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone’s still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war—and there will be blood.

I loved this book! I wasn't so sure at first, but I devoured this one and the second and then had an excruciating wait for the third (which was fabulous!).

My only criticism for this book is that there are too many “M” names. I really loved this book and I immediately picked up the next one.

I'm curious about this book and Chloe Neill. I've never read anything by her. And I do like vampires. Will consider it.
