I don't just read a book; I "crawl" right into one.
I read, I devour, and I consume every last word until the story is running like a movie through my brain!

Buying Trouble (On The Prowl Anthology) by Karen Chance

Claire, a “null”, is a rare species in the world of mages and, when assisting her boss in a large sale, finds herself part of the auction.  She is really NOT impressed! Enter Heidar, a Lord of the Fey, who’s only purpose is to secure the purchase of an ancient Fey Rune which is believed to hold very powerful magic.

Not only has Claire found herself “part of the lot”, she also finds herself face to face with dear old cousin, Sebastian, who wants to buy her at the auction and then sell her to a “Harvester”. "Harvesters" are greedy, power and money hungry enemies who would use Claire’s null power to create “Null Bombs” for magical warfare.

Claire’s and Heidar’s adventure truly begins when the ancient Fey Rune is activated and sends both into enemy Fey territory!  Now they are on the run. Fleeing for their very lives!  And, in the middle of it all, Claire finds out she is far more powerful than anyone ever knew!

Lots of action, a little of the “good ’ol romance goin’ on”, this read was kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what could happen next! For those readers, such as myself, who have not had much exposure to Karen Chances work, this short will most definitely leave you wanting more!

"Buying Trouble" is the companion to "Midnight's Daughter", Book 1 of the Dorina Basarab Series by Karen Chance. Book 2 in this series is "Death's Mistress", released January 2010.

I LOVE Karen Chance. So many people say its to complex a plot line but I really enjoyed the world she has created. I don't normally buy anthologies though!

Hi Lindsey! Unfortunately, the only other story by Karen I've read was another short from "Inked". She's most definitely on my big, huge, humongous wish list!

Thanks for stopping by!
