I don't just read a book; I "crawl" right into one.
I read, I devour, and I consume every last word until the story is running like a movie through my brain!

J-9 Review: Blood Vice by Keith Melton

This is a great book. It is well written and it will have you hooked from the first line, "It was a beautiful night for murder, but wet work was wet work and had to be done regardless of conditions". If that does not bring you in I don`t know what will!

I really enjoyed this book, it was descriptive and dark at points, the Mafia and Vampires just work well together. one of my favorite characters is Xiesha, a fairly silent, but deadly witch(?).  I also enjoyed the idea around the spirit wolf, and the order of the Thorn. There is romance in the book, but it is not what the book is based on and appears to be part of the natural flow to the story. The book was all about the story and not hindered by extra details or fluff.

My only negative critique of this book, is that I feel like I have read the story before. The characters are different and the situations are different, but the backbone of the story are the same. I wish there would have been just a touch more imagination in the flow of the story line.

From the Publisher
Business has never been better for hit man Karl Vance. Boston is awash in mafia blood, and as a master vampire, Vance has a certain fondness for blood. Hes sworn to never again feed on the blood of innocents, preying instead on the criminal underworld. Which makes him a valuable asset to those who deal in death. Maria Ricardi intends to use that asset to its full extent in order to gain power within her patriarchal crime family. Vance thinks hes been hired to keep track of her, but shes got a plan to earn the respect she deserves. And shes not above using their instant attraction to get what she wants. Her ambition draws the attention of a rival clans most dangerous consultant. Alejandro Delgado, Vance's centuries-old nemesis. Delgado zeroes in on the one chink in Vance's armor, his fondness for Maria. Now she's enslaved by Delgado's unnatural kiss. Only one thing is certain. Vance has to decide which he wants more. To settle the score or rescue her soul.

There is nothing like a hot cover to suck you in to want to know what a book is about. And in the case the story sounds just as good as the cover looks. Thanks for the review.
